THE INDIGENOUS MATRIARCH FOUR LAB (IM4 LAB)

The IM4 Lab is dedicated to Indigenizing VR/AR/XR through training, mentoring and production. The IM4 Lab develops Indigenous expertise in the field of Virtual and Augmented Reality, for application in artistic, cultural and economic contexts, as well as Indigenous and mainstream media. They are building capacity to help grow an Indigenous VR & AR industry and enable the production of cultural content that serves Indigenous economic and community development, cultural expression and educational applications. 

The Discovery Foundation’s Mentoring For & By Matriarchs is an innovative project designed for Indigenous women media professionals who are currently engaged in developing VR/AR skills to advance their knowledge and proficiency. These Matriarchs will work with IM4 Lab's expert VR/AR mentors to create specific AR elements that will showcase their creative and technical abilities. In turn, these Media Matriarchs will mentor Indigenous youth who are aspiring to pursue technical training and creative expression in VR/AR and other digital media. Check here for more information.


HUBSPACE/INNOVATION CENTRAL SOCIETY

Innovation Central Society has built the Hubspace in downtown Prince George - a destination where people and ideas come together to start, build and grow sustainable businesses. It’s an open space environment with coworking desks available for technologist, freelancers, independent contractors, solopreneurs and multi-staffed start-ups.

Discovery Foundation’s Northern BC CEO P2P Program is a CEO-level peer-to-peer facilitated bi-monthly discussion forum facilitated by seasoned Executives-in-Residence. This program will help entrench and grow existing tech businesses in Northern BC so that they remain here and continue to help diversify the regional economy beyond the historically-dominant primary industries of forestry and mining. Having these established companies grow and remain in the North is critical for this part of the province to participate and contribute to the economic engine that is the tech sector in the province.


JA BRITISH COLUMBIA

Junior Achievement British Columbia prepares and inspires youth to succeed in a global economy through business education programs focused on financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship, giving them the skills and confidence they need to become leaders of tomorrow.

The Discovery Foundation Discover Your Pitch Program is a capstone experience to teach youth the art of the elevator pitch and how to pitch to business investors. There will be a competition complete with judges, awards and scholarships! Click here to see more!


WOMEN IN COMMUNICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY, BC CHAPTER

Women in Communications and Technology (WCT) is committed to advancing women in Canada by providing opportunities for members to remain relevant and connected through strong relationships and continuous learning. WCT is a national association uniquely focused on providing networking, mentoring and educational opportunities for women in the telecommunications, media and technology (TMT) industries.

WOMEN IN TECH WORLD

Women in Tech World is a national nonprofit dedicated to creating community driven plans and educational programming to support and advance women in tech. They envision women and girls having equal opportunities within the tech industry world wide.

Discovery Foundation’s Women in Tech World Mastermind Series in collaboration with Women in Tech World & MyCEO offers leaders in the technology industry an opportunity to accelerate their business and careers through virtual, peer-to-peer learning and problem solving. Each Mastermind cohort will be open to women-identified persons in tech, and include three distinct under represented groups in the industry: Founders, Executive Leaders, and Aspiring Leaders.
