The Discovery Foundation Capital Mentorship Program was an extremely valuable experience for Elevated Signals. We benefited from meeting leaders of several investment firms, hearing directly from these individuals what characteristics and metrics are most important to them in VC decision-making.
The hosts from Spring, Sana and Keith, have been a tremendous source of ongoing advice, helping ensure that all our questions about startup development and fundraising are answered and also providing critical feedback on our pitch. Furthermore, one of the key benefits of the program was meeting weekly with other tech startup founders who each shared their insights and provided feedback to Elevated Signals specific to our situation.
We greatly appreciated the invitation to participate in this program as the advisors made us well prepared for subsequent meetings with investors, leading to our acceptance into the prestigious Creative Destruction Lab accelerator program. We are now in the midst of a fundraising round with a top tier lead investor – getting to this point was in no small part due to the knowledge we gained from the Discovery Foundation Capital Mentorship Program.
— Amar Singh, CEO of Elevated Signals.

It all started when…

The visionary Dr. Patrick McGeer, then Minister of Education for the Province of BC, founded Discovery Foundation nearly 40 years ago. Created to promote and support the province’s high technology research and development industry, the Discovery Foundation has gone through many evolutions since its formation in 1979.  Government involvement ceased in 1991 but the Discovery Foundation has continued its efforts as a private organization with a public mandate.

A registered charity now governed by its own Board of Directors, the Discovery Foundation’s mandate is to promote and facilitate innovation and the development of the technology sector in British Columbia.

Its principal role is the delivery of the Technology Education Program (TEP) through selected Agents who educate technology entrepreneurs in British Columbia.  Each year, industry organizations and educational institutions apply to be TEP Agents through a competitive process.  This process ensures the delivery of the highest quality programs

Discovery Foundation currently receives all funding through the independent and self-sustaining organization, Discovery Parks.

Discovery Foundation is dedicated to promoting and facilitating innovation and development of the technology sector in British Columbia.  We focus on programs that encourage and support diversity and inclusion. Our management team comprises of passionate professionals who each bring a unique set of skills to the foundation.
